Healing properties
In traditional medicine, couch grass is used as a diuretic for urinary and kidney stone diseases, nephritis, cystitis, and urinary incontinence. In a mixture with other plants, it is recommended for prostate adenoma and prostatitis.
This plant is especially effective in metabolic disorders. In this regard, couch grass is an excellent remedy for ailments related to mineral metabolism disorders: urinary and gallstone diseases, gout, arthritis, and osteochondrosis.
The blood-cleansing effect of its rhizomes is very valuable – preparations made from them restore metabolic disorders in various skin diseases: rashes, diathesis, acne, eczema, boils.
In case of skin diseases, rickets, hemorrhoids, baths with the infusion of this plant are taken. The high content of sugars and vitamins makes couch grass a nutritious, tonifying, and strength-restoring remedy that improves sleep and appetite.
Method of application
Decoction of couch grass root: Pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over 3 tablespoons of couch grass roots, boil for 10-15 minutes, and infuse in a tightly closed container for 1-2 hours. Take 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day. Duration of intake – 1 month.
Contraindications
Hypotensive individuals should refrain from taking couch grass root. It should not be used in case of exacerbation of gastric ulcer, as well as in acute pancreatitis accompanied by diarrhea.
