Black elderberry flowers

Indications for use:

• Black elderberry flowers are the main component of herbal medicine regimens for colds, bronchitis, sore throat, flu, bronchial asthma, dropsy, as well as diabetes, nephritis, psoriasis, and externally for hemorrhoids, neuralgia, myositis, and burns.
• First of all, preparations made from black elderberry flowers are used to treat acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, sore throat, bronchitis, whooping cough, tracheitis, pulmonary emphysema – the patient’s condition in these cases is facilitated by diaphoretic, anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects. In addition, in the above cases, elderberry can help in the treatment of dry cough by thinning bronchial secretions. Ascorbic acid in elderberry flowers also plays an important role in the treatment of colds.
• In addition to internal use in case of nasopharyngeal diseases, regular rinses with elderberry infusion disinfect the throat and mouth well.
• Outwardly, elderberry flower preparations are used as lotions for wounds, diaper rash, burns and boils, in the form of baths – for hemorrhoids, and as douching and microclysters – for gynecological inflammatory diseases of the vagina. The flowers steamed with boiling water are used as a poultice to relax and warm muscles in case of myositis and neuralgia.
• The strong diuretic effect of elderberry flowers is used to treat dropsy, inflammatory bladder diseases, renal balloons and kidneys accompanied by edema.
• The choleretic property of elderberry flowers is used in the treatment of liver diseases. Mild laxative effect helps to cope with chronic constipation. Elderberry flower infusion stimulates metabolism and will be useful in the complex treatment of diabetes, gout and psoriasis.
• Black elderberry flowers are perfectly combined with other medicinal plants in herbal preparations that have a diaphoretic, laxative, antiseptic, and expectorant effect.

Application:

Water infusion for ingestion:

Brew 1 tablespoon of chopped elderberry flowers (a teaspoon for children) with 1 cup (250 ml) of boiling water. Insist for 30 minutes, strain. Take 1/3 cup 3 times a day with meals.

Water infusion for external use:

Brew 2 tablespoons of flowers with 0.5 liters of boiling water, leave for 30 minutes, strain. Use as a rinse, douche, bath, microclysm.
