Healing properties
Valerian has a sedative, tranquilizing effect on the central nervous system. It is considered to be an effective natural remedy for the treatment of depression, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety and other neurological problems. Valerian regulates heart activity, acting through the central nervous system and directly on the muscle and conduction system of the heart, improves coronary circulation due to the direct action of borneol on the heart vessels.
It reduces central nervous system excitability, improves coronary circulation, increases bile secretion and secretion of the glandular apparatus of the gastrointestinal tract, has antispasmodic and hypotensive effects.
Method of application
Decoction: Pour 1 teaspoon of chopped root with 1 glass of boiling water, boil over low heat for 15 minutes, leave for half an hour, strain and take 1 tablespoon of broth (children 1-8 years old, 1 teaspoon) 3-4 times a day between meals.
Alcohol tincture: Pour 50 g of roots with 0.5 liters of 40% alcohol, leave for 2-3 weeks in a dark place, strain. Take 15-20 drops per 50 ml of water 3-4 times a day between meals. Children aged 1-8 years should take the number of drops equal to the child’s age.
The minimum course is 1 month. Take a break for 2 weeks and repeat the course if necessary.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to valerian preparations. Use with caution in case of intestinal atony, increased blood clotting, severe kidney disease.
