Useful properties
The leaves contain more ascorbic acid than the berries themselves, so they are used medicinally as an antiseptic, disinfectant, and tonic (calorifier). The diuretic, cleansing, and anti-rheumatic properties of currant leaf decoctions are known.
Currant leaves are used for treatment:
- gastritis,
- gout,
- cardiovascular diseases,
- dermatitis,
- diathesis.
The beneficial effect of currant leaves on blood vessels and blood formation is also noted; it is believed that they relieve anemia and vascular atherosclerosis.
During the period of colds and infectious diseases, you need to remember about the phytoncides contained in the leaves – they are indispensable helpers in the treatment of ARVI, influenza, sore throat, whooping cough and bronchitis.
Method of application
Infusion: 4 tablespoons of dry crushed leaves and pour 1 liter of boiling water. Insist for 20-30 minutes, then strain the finished infusion. Recommends using the product in a course of at least 3-4 weeks.
As a preventive measure, you can prepare currant herbal teas. To do this, 1-2 tablespoons of chopped leaves are poured with 1 glass of boiling water and after 15 minutes the drink is ready to drink. Such teas are very useful for colds and viral diseases, as well as for reduced immunity.
