Properties
The main feature of comfrey is its ability to accelerate the recovery of damaged tissues, especially bone. Due to this, the plant is widely used in folk medicine for bone fractures, joint dislocations, osteomyelitis, and periosteum damage. In such cases, an infusion, jelly or tincture of the roots is taken internally and externally (simultaneously) in the form of baths, rinses, lotions, compresses. Similarly, the infusion is used for rheumatoid joint lesions and gout, boils and other skin diseases, ulcers and wounds. Comfrey’s regenerative effect is primarily due to the allantoin contained in the plant. Comfrey preparations have been shown to be more effective than synthetic allantoin, which indicates the presence of related synergistic substances in the plant.
For all injuries of bones, tendons and muscles, such as fractures (fractures), bruises, dislocations, sprains, strains, contusions, hemorrhages, comfrey root gruel is the best treatment. They are also effective in inflammatory processes in muscles, nerves, joints, and tendons.
Due to the astringent, emollient, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of the plant, it is used in folk medicine for diarrhea, colitis, stomach and intestinal ulcers, dysentery, respiratory tract inflammation, chronic cough and tuberculosis. In case of prostate diseases, comfrey infusion and jelly are taken orally and simultaneously applied topically as a microclimate.
Method of application
Infusion: Pour 2 tsp. of crushed raw materials with 2 cups of boiling water (do not boil!), leave for 40-60 minutes, strain. Take 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day.
Infusion for external use: 3 tablespoons of crushed roots per 0.5 liters. water. Pour cold water over the roots and heat for 30 minutes. over low heat in a sealed container, without bringing to a boil, insist for 4 hours and strain.
Tincture of roots in vodka (1:5): 100 dry crushed roots per 0.5 liters. vodka, insist for 1 week, strain and take 30-40 drops, mixed with a little water, 5-6 times a day before meals.
Contraindications: pregnancy, lactation, individual intolerance.
