Tormentil root (Potentilla erecta L.)

Healing properties

From ancient times to the present, traditional healers have used this medicinal plant as an astringent, hemostatic, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial agent.

Tormentil root is used for the treatment of:

• intestinal disorders, infections and poisoning (diarrhea, bloating, colic);
• diseases of the stomach and duodenum (ulcers, gastritis with high acidity);
• uterine and intestinal bleeding;
• skin diseases (psoriasis, eczema, long-healing wounds);
• diseases of the oral cavity (stomatitis, gingivitis);
• bacterial infections of the upper respiratory tract (tonsillitis, bronchitis)

With regular use of medicinal products from Tormentil root, immunity is enhanced, productivity increases, and sleep is normalized. The polyphenols contained in the rhizome of the plant (flavonoids and tannin) reduce blood cholesterol levels.

Tormentil is used for male potency. The root contains zinc and selenium, trace elements necessary for normal testosterone production. Under the influence of flavonoids, the activity of the cardiovascular system improves, and stagnation in the vessels is eliminated. This improves blood circulation in the male pelvic organs and increases potency.

When Tormentil root is used for urogenital system diseases (prostatitis, cystitis), inflammation in the tissues of the prostate or bladder is reduced, and the unpleasant symptoms such as pain and burning during urination are alleviated.

Method of application

Decoction: 1 tbsp. Pour 1 glass (200 ml) of boiling water over the crushed rhizomes, boil over low heat for 15 minutes, leave for half an hour, strain and take 1-2 tablespoons 4-5 times a day. . The decoction is effective for diseases of the stomach and intestines, cholecystitis, cirrhosis, ascites, nephritis, rheumatism and gout.

Infusion: brew with 1 cup of boiling water for 1 tbsp. of chopped rhizomes, insist in a thermos for 3 hours, strain. Take 1 tablespoon as a choleretic remedy for gastritis and gastric and duodenal ulcers with low acidity of gastric juice, as well as externally for hemorrhoids in the form of applications, for trichomonas colpitis in the form of douches, for baths.

Alcohol tincture: Pour 50 g of roots with 0.5 liters of 40% alcohol (or vodka). Insist 2-3 weeks in a dark place, strain. Tormentil tincture is used for stomach diseases, dysentery, diarrhea, heart and uterine diseases, and bleeding: take 20-30 drops in 50-100 ml of water 3 times a day, 15-30 minutes before meals. Outwardly, the tincture is used for lotions for eczema and burns.
